Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What cities are in the Timpanogos (South) District?

Answer: The South District consists of the cities: Pleasant Grove, Lindon, Orem, and Vineyard.

Q. How many board seats are in the Timpanogos (South) District?

Answer: The Utah County Commission has recently finalized the boundaries for the new Timpanogos (South) School District. There are seven seats.

Q. What is my seat number and voting area?

Answer: I am representing Seat 2, which encompasses the city of Lindon and the southern portion of Pleasant Grove (to 200 south).

Q. Will I advocate for a well-rounded education for students?

Answer:  I am a strong advocate for a well-rounded education. I taught art in the Alpine School District for four years, and I am currently a Computer Specialist. I have seen firsthand how these programs inspire creativity, build confidence, and open doors for students. These learning experiences are not just enrichment--they are essential. I know the difference it makes in a student's world to have opportunities that engage their interests, develop their talents, and prepare them for a variety of futures.

Q. What are some reasons the Alpine School District split?

Answer:

1. Size and Growth: ASD had become Utah's largest school district over 85,000 students.
2. Local Representation: Residents and city leaders in various communities felt that a more localized school district structure would provide better representation and responsiveness to their specific educational priorities.
3. Community Initiatives: City councils in areas like Lehi, American Fork, and Cedar Hills initiated interlocal agreements to explore the feasibility of forming new districts. These efforts aimed to empower voters to decide on educational governance structures that best suited their communities.
in response to these factors, two propositions were placed on the November 2024 ballot:
Prop 11: Proposed the creation of the  "Central District" Prop 14: Proposed the formation of a "West District"
Both propositions passed with support, leading to the establishment of these new districts, and consequently the remaining cities-Orem, Lindon, Pleasant Grove, and Vineyard-formed the "South District" by default.
