School Board Responsibilities

1. Establish District Policies and Governance

  • Develop policies that guide district operations, student conduct, and staff expectations. 
  • Set long-term goals for student growth achievement and district growth. 

2. Hire and Evaluate the Superintendent

  • Recruit and hire the district's first superintendent. 
  • Provide oversight and performance evaluations. 

3. Budget and Financial Oversight

  • Approve the district's first budget and allocate funding appropriately. 
  • Ensure financial accountability appropriately. 

4. Set Curriculum and Educational Standards

  • Decide on curriculum policies and academic programs. 
  • Ensure compliance with state education laws and standards. 

5. Community Engagement and Representation

  • Listen to and address concerns from parents, teachers, and community members. 
  • Advocate for the district's needs at local and state levels

6. Infrastructure and School Facilities

  • Oversee decisions about school buildings, maintenance, and future expansion.
  • Approve policies for safety, transportation, and technology integration. 

7. Legal Compliance and Ethics

  • Ensure the district follows state and federal education laws. 
  • Promote ethical decision-making and conflict resolution.
