I’ve always believed in the power of education to change lives, build confidence, and open doors. Helping students thrive—no matter their background or abilities—is at the heart of everything I do. I hold a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, a Master’s in Elementary Education, and an Educational Administrative License from BYU (2018).
Over the past 16 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving students and teachers in the Alpine School District. My roles have ranged from classroom teacher to instructional coach to school administrator. I’ve also worked in the SEAO (Student Educational Access and Opportunity) Department, where I helped implement effective ESL strategies to support diverse student populations across the North and West regions. During a staff medical leave, I stepped in as acting Vice Principal at Windsor Elementary.
I currently teach Computer Science at Grovecrest Elementary in Pleasant Grove.
Building strong community connections is one of my passions. I’ve helped organize Art Nights at Westmore and Windsor Elementary Schools, secured grant funding for afterschool programs, and was honored to receive the Crayola Grant—expanding access to creative learning experiences for students.
Outside the classroom, I’m a Lindon resident who loves hiking, playing pickleball, and spending time with my amazing family. Years ago, I served a mission in Edinburgh, Scotland, which deepened my love for people, resilience, and service—values that continue to guide me every day as an educator.
As a proud graduate of Orem High and an even prouder aunt to six nieces and nephews in our new district, I’m deeply invested in ensuring all students—regardless of background or ability—have access to the very best education we can offer.
I am running for school board because I care deeply about our students, our teachers, and the community we share. As an educator, I've seen firsthand what it takes to help students thrive, and I understand the support teachers need to do their best work. The focus of my campaign centers on three key areas:
Together, we can build a district that we are all proud of, where every student has the opportunity to achieve greatness.
I endorse Wendy Cope for seat 2 of the new South District. She is a gifted teacher of our children and understands the issues that will have to be dealt with in building the new school district. My daughter will always remember the kindness she showed to students and I am confident she will care for the teachers and students in the new school district.
-Dr. Mark Clement, Alpine School District Board
I am proud to endorse Wendy Cope for the South Area School Board. Having known her and her family for over 20 years, I can confidently say they are good, honest people who care deeply about our community. Wendy is fiscally responsible and has always shown a strong commitment to making thoughtful, strategic decisions that benefit the greater good. Her ability to balance financial prudence with a passion for education makes her the ideal candidate to serve on the school board.
